Brosnahan was then cast as Rachel Posner in "House of Cards" (Netflix, 2013), a role which was originally intended to last just five lines, but one which producers extended to 19 episodes due to her impressive performance. Brosnahan then made the move to big-budget Hollywood fare when she played Genevieve Duchannes in young adult adaptation "Beautiful Creatures" (2013), and after one-off appearances in" Orange is the New Black" (Netflix, 2013-) and "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC, 2005-) she starred as Tamara, a sheltered teen who gives refuge to an on-the-run gang leader, in 50s-based crime drama "A New York Heartbeat" (2013). Supporting roles in indie films "The Truth About Average Guys" (2009), "Coming Up Roses" (2011) and "Nor'easter" (2012) followed, as did guest spots on "Gossip Girl" (The CW, 2007-2012), "The Good Wife" (CBS, 2009-2016) and "In Treatment" (HBO, 2008-2010). Born in Milwaukee, WI in 1990 but raised in Highland Park, Brosnahan attended the Tisch School of Arts in New York before making her screen debut in supernatural horror "The Unborn" (2009). Best-known for her Emmy-nominated turn as Rachel Posner in "House of Cards" (Netflix, 2013-), Rachel Brosnahan also appeared in several other acclaimed dramas including "The Blacklist" (NBC, 2013-), "Manhattan" (WGN America, 2014-15) and "Crisis in Six Scenes" (Amazon, 2016). ![]()
